Thrift for Hope Fashion Show - Hosted by MECHS
Madison Early College High School hosted it’s first Fashion Show at Marshall High Studios to benefit Beacon of Hope. Entry was 2 non perishable items for the food pantry. Students created a runway and showed off their amazing creations! They were able to donate 193lbs of food to the pantry!

MANNA Partner Conference "Food for Today, Food for Tomorrow, and Food for a Lifetime"
Beacon's pantry staff recently attended the MANNA Partner Agency Conference and was able to connect with some of the partner agencies MANNA currently serves across 18 counties in WNC & the Qualla Boundary. It was such a wonderful opportunity to be in community with other food assistance organizations, celebrating our "wins" & talking though our challenges.

Town and Trail Fest - Hot Springs NC
Beacon’s Thrift Store packed up some of our amazing special finds to take to Town and Trail Fest in Hot Springs NC. We had a large selection of name brand hiking gear and the proceeds went to our Food Pantry!

Marshall Magic Days
Beacon’s Thrift Store participated in Marshall Magic Days downtown! We had extended hours, a scavenger hunt, and a magical photo wall to add to the fun!

Beacon of Hope’s 3rd Annual Empty Bowl’s
Our 3rd Annual Empty Bowl’s was our best event yet! Saturday April 18th, 4-7pm at the Marshall High Studios auditorium. We enjoyed a delicious community meal, including a selection of hearty soups, home-baked bread and yummy desserts!! (Gluten-free and vegan/vegetarian options.
Live music from Rooster & Pierce Edens, along with a silent auction with so many amazing items!!

Asheville, NC band Rooster is made up of Erin Kinard on drums and Annie Myers on guitar, and was formed by two strangers at a backyard campfire in the summer of 2016.
The two performed separately for more than 15 years before the 'Rooster Egg' hatched.
"We unlocked a melodic door that feels like home,” Erin says “Singing and harmonizing with Annie feels so natural, and we can't help but do it when we're around each other”. -

Artisan Bowls, Givens Estates
Muddie Buddies is a resident-led pottery studio at Givens Estates, where endless possibilities await.
Givens Estates first got involved with Empty Bowls in 2024, when they learned Beacon was seeking bowls for our 2nd annual event.
In 2025, a small group of five dedicated potters, made and donated just over 250 bowls to local events. They have donated bowls, supporting events in Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson and Madison counties, focusing on where they can make the greatest impact on communities and groups with food insecurities.
In 2026, they are anticipate donating over 280 bowls to four EB events. -

High Top Bread Company is known for their naturally leavened sourdough breads in Black Mountain, NC. They use regional, organic flour and a slow fermentation process for tasty, healthy breads.

Ceramic Pot with Lid
This gorgeous vessel, sealed with a food safe glaze, is handcrafted by Blake Salmon.
Blake is a self-taught potter at Givens Estates. He has been doing pottery for just three years. He got into pottery as a way help with his mental health challenges. The vast majority of his work is done for Empty Bowl events. He finds peace in making functional pottery that helps others. -
Face Jug
This one-of-a-kind face jug was created by Blake Salmon. The jug was thrown on the wheel, with the face being added and sculpted on after. The jug stand 9-10” tall and is coated in a food safe glaze.

Hand-Turned Wooden Ornament
This beautiful hand-turned wooden ornament is handcrafted from Rescued Stories Workshop.
Matt and Stephanie specialize in creating unique and personalized pieces of art from rescued wood. Matt comes from a family of woodworkers, primarily creating on the lathe that was handed down from his grandfather. Stephanie loves dabbling in all sorts of art, especially painting and reusing materials that might otherwise get thrown away.
Each piece is one of a kind.

This beautiful Italian Bellied Pot was donated to our thrift store and we knew right away it was special!
Not only is the color a happy sunny yellow, it is numbered on the bottom from when it was made.

Bartlett Collins Granny Glass Cookie Jar
This vintage glass cookie jar is made of glass, but designed to look like enamelware. It is a deep grey-blue with speckles.
Bartlett Collins was started in 1914 in Oklahoma when Bartlett, an Oklahoma oil man team up with Collins, an east Coast glass man. together they formed Bartlett- Collins. the company was noted for its hand-pressed and blown tableware, stemware and kitchenware.

Vintage Baldelli Pottery
Vintage Baldelli ceramics are mid-20th-century Italian pottery founded in 1942 in Città di Castello. They are known for vibrant colors, speckled glazes, and bold mid-century modern designs on handmade clay pieces. Common items include kitchen serveware, pitchers, and decorative vases often found with "Baldelli Italy" marks.
