Beacon Box/TEFAP Food Assistance Programs

Beacon/TEFAP Food assistance programs is open to anyone who falls within the income guidelines set by the US Department of Agriculture:

We have modified food distributions to include an outdoor sign-in station, cones to allow for social distancing, and pre-packed food boxes carted directly to your vehicle by Beacon volunteers.

You will be given a number card to put in your vehicle’s window. Please remain in your vehicle, we will load your food for you.

All Beacon personnel are adhering to the CDC’s current best practice guidelines, which include wearing face masks and gloves.

Food Packages

Food packages include dry/shelf stable items, meat, bread, bakery and produce items. As well as eggs and dairy, when available.

Clients are eligible for:

  • 1 food package per month

  • “Bonus Bread & Produce” 1x per month.
    Stop by during any of our scheduled food distributions and receive a second box of bread and produce.

  • MANNA Express, 1st Friday each month (12-2pm)
    Receive a box packed full of bread, produce, bakery items, and more!

For clients who are not comfortable leaving their vehicles, we will come to you. Please call the front desk at (828) 649-3470 when you arrive.

Beacon Clients

If you are self-quarantining, and are currently a Beacon Client, your proxy can pick up your food package. If you would like someone else to pick up your food package, please send them with a written permission slip, including your name, their name and the date, giving that person permission to pick up your food package.

Enroll in our Food Assistance Program

For those looking to enroll in our food assistance program, you must fall below the current TEFAP income guidelines and fill out a brief application. We do not require proof of income.

If you are self-quarantining and wanting to enroll in our food assistance program, you can send a friend, neighbor, and/or relative to sign you up.

We will need a written note from you, with your name, the date relaying that you give that person permission to serve as your “authorized representative”.

Please send them with the following information, which will allow them to complete an application on your behalf:

  • Your name, home address, contact number and whether or not you receive food stamps.

  • We will also need to know the following information about you and each person in your household: name, date of birth, their relationship to you and each person’s total monthly income.
